Un-link main menu and top menu linked in Joomla |

I found that he was using a free template and the top menu and main menu are some how linked. Publishing an item on the main menu also shows up in the top menu. And I he was pissed of as had no control of the top menu at all. He was also able to add or remove items from the menu and it does not change. He was also able even to unpublish it and it is still there.

I found that it copies all the items from main menu to top menu for any thing that is published when I tried going to Backend(admin) Selecting Modules and then selecting SiteModules -> Top Menu In Parameters section I changed and set the 'topmenu' option for 'Menu Name' and save it.
